Our Method

Fiberutilities Group is a professional technology management firm. Our focus is in developing strategic, long-term network solutions for our clients. We help our clients leverage the right network technology as a means of defining the way they do business. Sometimes that involves upgrading existing network technologies. Sometimes that involves the development of an entirely new network.

Fiberutilities Group is unique because we aren’t traditional business consultants, nor are we solely a technology firm. We are business professionals who understand how to leverage technology as a competitive advantage. We are accountable for our results - our clients make the decision to hire us at each stage of the network development process. Every network solution we prepare is tailored to a specific client, simply because every client is unique.

Business Analysis

A partnership with Fiberutilities Group begins with a thorough analysis of a client’s business. Our expert team- with experience in the fields of telecommunications, networking, data management, business development, finance, and more- analyzes each client’s business and determines the appropriate long-term network strategy. The analysis phase considers, among other things, each client’s economic environment, competitive forces, management approach, network and equipment requirements, and timeline for action. We evaluate considerations such as whether a client should be focused on developing their own private network or purchasing the right carrier-services, or negotiating network lease agreements. We also determine the type of network technology most suitable for our client- whether fiber optic, wireless, copper, or coaxial connection technology. Finally, we analyze the return on investment our client should expect if they pursue a particular long-term network strategy.

Network Planning

If our client is interested in learning more about how to implement the results of our initial analysis, Fiberutilities Group will develop a strategic network plan. Our strategic plans are customized according to each of our client’s particular needs and circumstances, and represent controlled, cost-effective, and appropriately staged “roadmaps” for action. If our client decides to pursue developing a private network, Fiberutilities Group will conduct network routing, design and engineering, evaluate the appropriate network systems and equipment, establish Right-of-Way agreements, and conduct all other standard operations necessary for the creation of a private network.

Network Creation

Network creation consists of implementing the strategic plan we develop on behalf of our client. Network creation may include purchasing existing network resources, constructing and assembling new infrastructure, or incorporating carrier circuits into a network. Fiberutilities Group manages all steps of network creation, including acquisition, construction, installation, configuration, testing, and final “turn-up” of a network. Our longstanding relationships with manufacturers, vendors, and contractors allow us to deliver on the commitments we make regarding project costs and build time. To date, 100% of our projects have been completed under budget and on or before the specified completion date.

Network Operation & Management

We currently operate and manage over 8,000 miles of fiber optic network on behalf of our clients. Our clients enjoy a level of control over network costs, capability, and capacity otherwise unattainable through a relationship with a service-carrier provider. By selecting Fiberutilities Group to manage their networks, our clients are able to capitalize on all of the benefits of their network without being required to conduct network operation activities that fall outside their core business competencies. As part of network management, we complete all network changes and updates, execute work orders, manage troubleshooting, manage service vendors, and plan for the long-term future of the network for our clients.
