How We Are Different
Fiberutilities Group LLC is focused on connectivity;
we provide a unique set of plan, build and operate services to our
clients. We are not affiliated with any vendor or carrier and we
are not committed to any particular technology. We have designed
our service sets in a modular manner, allowing our clients to choose
the extent of our involvement in any networking project. We believe
our approach is unparalleled within the industry, and offers an
attractive alternative to traditional carrier services.
Traditionally, “similar” firms fall into
one of four broad categories:
Consultants:
Provide the benefits of their experience to create
recommendations and alternatives, but do not actually take responsibility
for the execution of the recommendations; they merely communicate
‘what to do and how to do it’.
Advantages: Generally neutral,
only representing the client’s interests. Disadvantages:
Lack the ability to execute on recommendations, no accountability
for results.
Non-traditional service providers:
Offer a carrier-like product disguised as client owned
and controlled solution. This is usually another flavor of lit or
managed services with some differentiator from traditional leased
capacity circuit environments.
Advantages: Usually offer some unique value over traditional
carrier environment, often more flexible or creative than carriers.
Disadvantages: Biased solution; they sell
a “product”. The underlying objective is for client
to buy their pre-packaged solution.
Brokers / Dealers:
Negotiate and leverage carriers and providers to bring client
value and/or sell assets or services on behalf of the underlying
companies they represent; sell carrier circuits, hardware, dark
fiber or other network elements.
Advantages: Can be a one-stop-shop for circuit pricing
and terms, buy in volume providing value to smaller clients.
Disadvantages: Biased solution; often
represent and/or are compensated by carriers or vendors.
Network Managers:
Provide NOC and/or monitoring services of existing networks.
Advantages: Can provide a level of expertise not found
“in house” for many a clients.
Disadvantages: Frequently, only work on existing or
established networks, not on network creation or implementation
or deployment.
